The Aviation Medical First Responder (AvMFR) course is a one or two day, high-fidelity simulation programme designed to prepare clinicians and responders to manage medical emergencies in real aircraft environments. Delivered inside a commercial airframe, the course immerses participants in authentic in-flight scenarios that cannot be replicated in classrooms or hospital settings.

AvMFR is aimed at doctors, nurses, paramedics, military medics, expedition and remote medicine clinicians, and anyone involved in aeromedical retrieval, commercial medical escort work, or in-flight emergency response. No previous aviation medicine experience is required — only a desire to work safely, confidently, and competently within an aircraft.

Participants will develop a practical understanding of aviation physiology, cabin hazards, human factors, and the unique constraints of delivering care at altitude. Through structured briefings and multiple high-pressure simulations, they will learn how to assess, stabilise, and manage time-critical emergencies in the tight, noisy, low-resource environment of an aircraft cabin
